On the 21st of April 2026, a global company in the medical technology, services and solutions sector, brought together female leaders for a dedicated leadership development programme at The Margi in Athens, Greece.
As part of the programme, the organisation wanted participants to move beyond theory and actively apply the leadership skills they had explored throughout previous sessions.
The goal was to create an experience that would:
With this in mind, the client partnered with interFRONTIERS, Catalyst Global’s partner in Cyprus, to deliver an immersive business simulation inspired by high-altitude mountain expeditions.
Program Objectives
Activity: Peak Performance
Participants: Women leaders participating in a leadership development programme
Format: Leadership simulation, facilitated debrief and inspirational guest speaker
Duration: 4-hour session
Peak Performance was selected because it gave participants the opportunity to put the leadership skills they had learned into practice.
Working in teams, participants navigated a challenging mountain expedition simulation. The activity required strategic planning, time management, communication, collaboration and decision-making under pressure. Throughout the challenge, teams continuously assessed risks, managed limited resources and adapted to changing conditions in pursuit of a successful summit.
What made the session especially impactful was the intentional design of the overall experience. Rather than ending when the scores were revealed, the activity transitioned into a structured debrief and guided discussion. Participants reflected on the behaviours, decisions and team dynamics that shaped their performance.
The conversation explored how the leadership challenges experienced during the simulation mirrored those faced in the workplace. Topics included risk assessment, communication under pressure and moments when teams either aligned effectively or struggled to move forward together.
The experience concluded with a powerful session featuring Christina Flampouri, the first Greek woman to summit Mount Everest and complete the Seven Summits challenge.
Rather than delivering a traditional keynote speech, Christina engaged participants in a personal and reflective conversation. She connected their simulation experience to the realities of leadership, resilience and decision-making in extreme environments.

The session delivered a highly engaging and emotionally resonant leadership experience that extended far beyond the simulation itself.
Participants were able to actively apply leadership concepts in a realistic and demanding environment, strengthening their understanding of:
The structured debrief created a powerful bridge between the simulation and real business life, helping participants reflect more deeply on their leadership behaviours and team interactions.
The addition of Christina Flampouri’s session elevated the experience even further, transforming the learning journey into something deeply human and inspirational.
Participants connected emotionally with the parallels between the mountain expedition simulation and the realities of leadership in professional life.
Ultimately, the experience demonstrated that leadership development becomes most impactful when participants do not simply discuss leadership concepts — but actively live them.
Peak Performance demonstrated how immersive simulations can transform leadership development from theoretical learning into lived experience.
By combining experiential learning, structured reflection and authentic real-world storytelling, interFRONTIERS created a leadership journey that challenged participants to think differently, collaborate more effectively and reflect more deeply on what leadership truly requires under pressure.
